It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged, so I thought I would update you all on what’s N E W with me/Bombshell! Can we start by saying how excited I am that mandates have been lifted, and we can (S O M E W H A T) begin getting back to our norm?!

Effective June 2nd, 2021, our governor lifted the statewide mask ban, leaving it O P T I O N A L to business owners! Applaud and give yourself a pat on the back! We made it! With that being said, masks are N O T required, but they A R E welcomed! I respect your decision either way, and ask that you extend that same courtesy to each of our stylists/guests! The lobby will be open again, and while social distancing is recommended, it isn’t required! I am excited to put the magazines and candy bowl back out, but let’s all do our part to keep each other safe! That means S T A Y home if you are sick, sanitize your hands when you can, and just be a good human, while enjoying the things that feeds your soul!

As most of you know, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect assistant, and somehow found T W O! I am thrilled to be working with Brittany and Nicolle starting T H I S week! With the mandates limiting room occupancies and other things, I had to minimize how many I could see in a day, etc. I will now be able to see more clients in a day; and hopefully expedite the appointment time slightly (good things take time!), while maintaining the integrity of my craft! I will be opening up new time slots starting N E X T week, so be on the lookout! Brittany and Nicolle will introduce themselves on social media this week, so you can meet them! I am so excited for them, and what the future holds!

In regards to the new space, we are still waiting on an opening date! As frustrating as this process has been, I am elated at what the outcome will be! Our 3,000 sq. ft. space will host 10 stations… and accompanying the girls and I, will be an independent microblading artist/esthetician, possibly a barber… in addition to a lot more space and natural lighting! We will also have front desk support to help assist your stylist and accommodate you during your visit! I’ve only gotten through this L O N G process, because its S O worth the wait! We can’t wait to show you how incredible it’s going to be!

Last month, I traveled to A R I Z O N A to add to my menu of extension methods! I am now offering the Luna Method extensions, in addition to, NBR extensions! This method has quickly become a favorite of mine, due to the fact that it offers L E S S tension on the hair, minimum beads (only 5-8 beads per row!), lays flatter against the head, and so much more! I have upgraded my extension menu to now include an aray of products and tools for your takehome experience! P E R S O N A L L Y… I am coming off of a weeklong stay at Cincinnati Children’s with my youngest daughter, Kennedy! She had her second open heart surgery procedure, in less than a year… and it was emotionally exhausting to say the least! By the grace of God, everything went well, and we are home resting. Thank you to my amazing clients for your prayers, well wishes, concern and patience. I appreciate you all so much, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Lastly, I can’t wait to get back to work, so much so, I cut bangs into my O W N hair! (Back with a bang… get it?! hahahah). I have been yearning for a creative outlet this last week, and I love my new curtain bangs! I am excited to try a new look, and I have a feeling, it is one of M A N Y to come! F R I E N D S!!!

We are officially back in business, as of May 15th! I have so many mixed emotions, but nevertheless, I am happy to be back! I want you to know that I do not take anyone’s health for granted, and we will be working around the clock to keep things safe. Ohio licensed cosmetologists are required to have 1500+ hours to be compliant, in addition to, continuing education every T W O years. A H U G E chunk of that training is in safety and sanitation protocols to protect consumers from bacteria, fungus, viruses and other infections. We are governed by the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology to uphold these sanitation protocols. To sum it up, our licenses represents P U B L I C safety. We are here to keep everyone beautiful, happy, but above all, safe! Here’s a few guidelines and polices that will be effective immediately, until further notice!

M A S K S: Per Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted, I will have to wear a mask while performing services. In regards to my clients, I know this is a touchy subject… so, I am leaving it up to your discretion.

I L L N E S S: If you are sick, exhibiting symptoms, or have been around someone who is sick, I respectfully ask that you stay home. We are lucky to be able to ease back into this, and I don’t want to ruin it. I would rather you cancel appropriately/promptly and reschedule… instead of coming to your appointment and putting others at risk.

C A N C E L L A T I O N S: I am busting my butt, working 2-3 weeks straight to accommodate as many of you as I can. Please show me the respect to cancel in advance… which will allow another client who’s been waiting, like you, to get in. I am thankful that I do not have this issue, but wanted to stress the importance of it during this time.

A R R I V A L: Upon your arrival, I ask that you wait in your car until you are called to come in. We are doing everything we can to limit the number of people in the space at a time. I am hoping in the future we can begin using the lobby again, but for now, this is our only reasonable option! Please only bring those getting services ,to the salon with you… unless prior notification was given. Punctuality is crucial during this time, so that we can stay on schedule. Extensive sanitizing of chairs, tools, etc., takes up time, and every minute counts.

B E V E R A G E S: I will provide beverages for you to enjoy, but feel free to bring your own. My assistants will take care of this for you, to make ensure we keep as many hands “out of the pot” as possible. Once you are finished, we will collect it for you!

S A N I T I Z E R: Hand sanitizer will be available in multiple areas around the salon. I ask that you use it prior to the start of your service, as well as, at the conclusion of your visit.

6 F E E T: Please allow a minimum of 6 ft between you and other customers/staff, when possible.

E N T E R T A I N M E N T: Per the governor and his panel of industry experts, we will NOT have magazines available. Feel free to bring things to keep yourself entertained.

C O N C L U S I O N: Cash or cards will be the only payment accepted. No checks. Prebooking is always recommended, but not required. • Growing pains…

Long hair is a journey. Have you ever asked yourself “why has my hair hit a stopping point and won’t grow any longer?” If you have, don’t feel like you’re alone. You would be surprised how many people have had this same issue. The truth be told, you’re probably not following the necessary steps to keep your hair healthy along the way. Let’s discuss what the vital steps to hair growth include and hopefully, relieve you of your stress and get you back on track with your hair growth progress.

1. THE BIG CHOP: Unfortunately, this is the most important step when growing your hair out. Depending on how much damage you have & how compromised your hair is from chemical services will determine the length you will start your hair journey with.

2. FREQUENT TRIMS: As much as you feel like getting frequent trims is “Backtracking”, it is IMPORTANT to realize that without them your hair will split causing your hair growth to stop in its tracks. When your hair splits and hasn’t been repaired by a trim, it will continue to split up the hair shaft, which will not only stop growth but will cause damage and a larger haircut will be needed. Unfortunately, this will put you right back to where you started in the first place if you do not take this step seriously.

3. THE AWKWARD STAGES: This is the part of the hair growth journey that will have you wanting to pull a 2007 Brittney Spears moment. (I’ve been there LOL) Ever notice that the back of your hair grows faster than the front? This is a part of the awkward stages that everyone goes through.

4. BLOOD STIMULATION: This consists of massaging your scalp to get your blood flowing, which allows hair follicles to open and help them stimulate hair growth.

5. DIET: It’s important to nourish your body with healthy foods, vitamins, and a lot of water to get beautiful shiny/long hair. Think about watering a plant, if it doesn’t get enough water or sunlight it will not grow. Same goes for your own hair.

6. PRODUCTS: The use of professional products catered to your specific hair type is VITAL. The combo of scalp massages and oils will be your best friend.  Lastly if you fall victim to the routine of washing your hair every day, try to extend your blowout with the use of a good dry shampoo to prevent stripping your natural oils.  Below is a video of Sierra with one of her clients who had a buzz cut when she first started visiting us. Mrs. Shear Hotness, turning brides into their best selves on their BIGGEST day. A huge part of her career that eventually trickeled her back into doing hair. That is where Bombshell Beauty Bar was born, home of beautiful balayages and beat faces. Two businesses, three kids and so much in-between… seems like a lot on her plate right? It is, but one thing I can say is she never half asses ANYTHING! Her dedication to her clients, employees & family is absolutely UNMATCHED.

Winged Eye liner & False lashes

Being a makeup artist, I think two of the questions I get the most from women: “How do you get those things on? I’ve tried but it seems to be impossible!” or “How do you do a winged eyeliner? I always end up looking like a panda.”

I always want to chuckle because believe it or not… I’ve been there too! From gluing my eyelids shut, to extending my wing so large to try and “make it right”… and it end up being a mess. Both steps can be extremely intimidating, yet so worth it when you get it down right!

Sporting a cat eye can bring your everyday makeup into something a little more daring. But false eyelashes? They COMPLETE a look, while doing wonders that mascara never could.

Dabbling into makeup and techniques you’ve never used can be scary, but it is meant to be FUN! Give it a try!  You may mess up once, twice, maybe even ten times! But for a special occasion or a date night out, it can really give you a boost; while making you feel like the bombshell YOU are!

Extend your shampoo style…

A huge misconception is that you’re supposed to be washing your hair every single day. When in reality that is a big NO NO. “My hair gets too oily” is simply an excuse when D R Y  S H A M P O O exists!

Dry shampoo can be a saving grace especially on busy mornings and when used properly. Shampooing everyday can strip the natural oils out of your hair and can fade color faster. Why spend hundreds of dollars on a beautiful color service just for it to not last?

I am sure you have also heard your hair holds curls better when “dirty”. That’s right! Add a little dry shampoo before styling to get rid of some oil and to add volume for bouncy curls.
