February 14th is all about love, candy, and RED LIPS! Red lips can be intimidating; and often we hear women say, “I can’t pull it off!” I agree that it is a bold look, but there IS a shade for EVERYONE!
My fave way to rock a red lip is minimal drama everywhere other than the lip! That means a very neutral eye, and letting that lip pack the punch! Some prefer a bold eye AND lip! To each their own, and there is NO RIGHT WAY TO ROCK A RED LIP!
Here’s a guide to shades that we like with certain complexions! Remember: there’s no right or wrong shade for anyone! These are just our opinions!

While we all wish we could be frolicking on the beach right now, most of us reading this are probably stuck in Ohio! Don’t get me wrong! I LOVE Ohio, but I need some sun, salt, and sand in my life! So if I can’t get the sand between my toes, I WILL get the sea salt in my hair… YEAH BUDDY!
Beach waves are the perfect blend of carefree perfection! Messy, tousled, and strategically placed are how I prefer my beach waves… but there isn’t a RIGHT way to do this. Depending on the length of the hair, color placement, and texture, determines how I will curl my clients. Product and styling tool barrel size are key to this! Clean hair tends to not hold a curl as well as “dirty” hair… but that is where dry shampoo/texture spray and sea salt sprays come into play!
Whether you’re going to a black tie event or grabbing a cup of joe, BEACH WAVES ARE THE WAY TO GO! And for the record, Cali girls and their natural beach waves are #HAIRGOALS!

Scary and life changing all at the same time! Ok… that may be a bit much, but it can definitely take your makeup look to the next level! Dark circles, dullness, and redness are the top 3 complaints women have while sitting in my chair. Don’t fret! I have good news! While some of these concerns may take the intervention of a skin/medical specialist, there are temporary fixes!
Going back to the basics… and kindergarten are KEY! Understanding color theory just a smidge, will help tremendously! I know most people don’t think of the color wheel during every day life, so I’m probably asking for a bit much; but understanding WHAT you’re doing and WHY you’re doing it, will make it click!
Being licensed since 2010, I started this journey doing hair, with makeup following in 2012. I’m not gonna lie, we studied color theory RELIGIOUSLY in hair school… but I didn’t get it until I started doing makeup. I am now able to apply it to hair just as often as makeup.
Let’s break it down!
Green Cancels Red and vice versa. Putting green on red skin will neutralize the redness, while making it much easier to conceal with your foundation/concealers.
Canceling out can also mean COMPLIMENTS! Have you ever noticed a beautiful redhead in green clothes? STUNNING. Green and red are also COMPLIMENTARY colors! This can also lead to the pink family also! (see color wheel!)
Where’s my blonde sistas? You guys can’t stand that YELLOW YELLOW hair right? So, what do you do? You indulge in your favorite purple shampoo! THAT IS COLOR CORRECT
Dark circles are typically in the “blue” family. What do you think will correct that based on the color wheel? You guessed it! Salmon/peachy/orange tones, depending on your complexion!
Check out the videos we made below showcasing color correcting on 3 different complexions! The products used are mentioned in the video, as well as, in a pic below!

Wow! What a month! January means New Year and New Salon! That’s right! Most of you probably know me from my other business venture, Shear Hotness; and you may have even had your hair done by me at Salon Lofts! I am thrilled to blend both of my passions, hair and makeup, and birth my new baby: Bombshell Beauty Bar: Centerville!
My space in Oakwood allowed me to have the perfect studio for makeup trials and applications; while Salon Lofts reignited that passion that I once had for hairstyling. Bombshell Beauty Bar will allow me to do both, and have plenty of room for other amazing stylists to accommodate their guests!
It will be a full service salon, providing an array of services from hair to microblading! While we are still trying to find the perfect lash/microblading/esthetician for our establishment, we will be providing nail, brow/lip waxing, makeup, and hair services upon opening. I am so proud to have four wonderful, talented, passionate stylists working with me! Taylor Mayberry, Alyssia Coleman, Cheyanna Boldman, and Allyson DeStout, as well as, myself are your #BombSquad! Come out and meet us this Saturday, January 20th from 6pm-8pm at our Grand Opening Shindig! We will have raffles, gift certificates, drinks/lite appetizers, music, and fun! We are so excited to show you the new space, and look forward to seeing you all!
